Vitality requires wonderful sacrifice
Vitality is the aliveness, well-being, and energy we are meant to experience each day. It is our birthright. Our access to it requires sacrificing things that no longer serve us yet have been keeping us comfortable.
The nature of sacrifice is we give up something we like that our minds don't want to give up in exchange for something even better. This could be habits like drinking too much because it helps us “relax” or scrolling because it helps us “destress.” It could be believing in lack because it keeps us feeling like we have something to contol, or holding onto resentment because it helps us feel powerful. None of these things truly make us happy. They are cheap versions of the things that really fulfill us, which means we must be willing to trade them in for what truly help us thrive.
Sacrifice always feels inconvenient and uncomfortable, and sometimes even scary. Yet when we are willing to trade in something good for something great, life expands beyond what we can imagine. Maybe it’s time to sacrifice the belief that fulfillment comes after you prove your worth for the belief that everything you desire is already available right here.
To feel truly alive, we have to let go of what disconnects us, and comfort and vitality rarely live in the same place.
What are you willing to sacrifice to feel fully alive?
